About Coach Bacevich

Coach Bacevich coached football for 43 years at six high schools and three colleges in three states; his longest and most successful tenure was at Roger Bacon High School in Cincinnati, Ohio.

From 1954 to his retirement in 1974, Coach Bacevich was 150-40 at Roger Bacon High School, and he closed his career by being named the 1973 National Coach of the Year.  In 1991, he was inducted into the National High School Sports Hall of Fame.

Bacevich’s overall head coaching record was 312-70-13.  As a head coach at the high school level, Coach Bacevich finished with an even 300 victories, one of 11 individuals to accomplish that feat.  Coach Bacevich is a member of the National High School Athletic Coaches Hall of Fame, and has been selected to football halls of fame in Ohio, Indiana and Illinois.

While Coach Bacevich was tremendously successful on the field, he is known for never saying much about winning to his players.  His players remember him as a teacher of the game and of life.  Over 1,000 former football players consider him one of the most influential persons in their lives.   His focus was on developing young men and preparing them for their life ahead.   A significant part of his development of his players was his handouts about teamwork, attitude, sacrifice for the team, desire to excel, sportsmanship and numerous other inspirational topics.
